1 July 2018 – FRIM conducted Workshop on Conservation of Forest through Sustainable Ecotourism on the 30th June to 1st of July 2018 at the Balai Raya Kg. Janda Baik, Bentong, Pahang, Malaysia. This objective of the workshop was to build consensus (in terms of clear boundary) of the Ulu Tampik Waterfall and its surrounding area for the purpose of preserving, managing and maintaining of UTW area by the community as a community-based ecotourism project, as well as to identify potential tourism activities and resources to be developed and promoted. The workshop was attended by 54 participants from local communities of Kg. Janda Baik and government agencies. From the workshop, participants have been able to identify the potential services that can commercially developed to be offered to the visitors and discussed the means of benefit sharing that can be applied which will bring benefit to both – Pahang Forestry Department and State Government as well as communities in Kg. Janda Baik, in addition to management issues especially in the vicinity of Ulu Tampik Waterfall.
